Hristo Botev`s 160th Birth Anniversary Celebrated in His Native Town

The mountain town of Kalofer Sunday marked the birth anniversary of Bulgarian
revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev, who was born there 160 years ago. The observances were attended by Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev. Floral tributes were paid before the school where Botev`s father Botyo Petkov taught and at the monuments to Botyo
Petkov and Hristo Botev.
The day of Botev`s death is commemorated every year in Bulgaria
as the day of all heroes who fell for Bulgarian freedom.
